Skin Camouflage for Scars, vitiligo, stretch marks & more!
What is Skin Camouflage?
Skin camouflage, also known as medical tattooing, is a method of covering up skin blemishes, stretch marks, scars, and vitiligo. Each service is customized to your specific skin tone and needs. Once the tattoo heals, your blemish will be perfectly blended with the rest of your skin.
All clients need a consultation prior to treatment. Each treatment varies on a case-by-case basis, so time and pricing may vary. The chart below is a general estimate.
Scar camouflage is a safe tattooing method that fills in scars to match the pigment of the surrounding skin. Once healed (it usually takes about 3 weeks), the scar will look invisible to the human eye. A follow-up session is sometimes needed to touch up the area, depending on the severity of the case.
Medical Tattoos for Vitiligo
Vitiligo is a skin disease where the skin becomes discolored in patches that grow bigger over time. Vitiligo occurs when the cells that produce melanin die or stop functioning. It has no cure, but treatments like medical tattoos can help cover up symptoms. Usually, three or more sessions are needed, depending on the severity.
Medical Tattoos for Stretch Marks
Stretch marks develop when our skin stretches or shrinks too quickly. Often caused by weight gain or pregnancy, the symptoms can last long after the skin has returned to normal. Stretch mark camouflaging is a process that involves filling in the white lines with a pigment that matches the surrounding skin.
How it works
Unlike traditional tattooing, medical tattoos work by depositing tiny spheres of sterile organic or mineral pigments into the “dermis,” or upper layer of the skin. For each customer, we’ll create a custom pigment based on your exact skin tone. Your skin will usually heal in about three weeks to a month.
an Anti-Wrinkle Botox Competitor
The FDA has approved Daxxify by Revance, a new injectable medicine for smoothing facial wrinkles in adults. Daxxify is in the same class of medicines as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau, but may be more effective in reducing wrinkles for longer periods of time. In clinical trials, 80% of participants had little or no visible facial wrinkles after four months of using Daxxify, and half still had little evidence of wrinkles after six months. Dermatologists believe Daxxify will change the market for neuromodulators.

What to doafter a skin camouflage session:
Keep the area completely dry for 24 hours
After 24 hours, wash the area using the liquid soap from your aftercare kit and lukewarm water for 7 days. Take a shower, not a bath!
After 24 hours, apply a thin layer of Aquaphor 3 times daily for 30 days. Do not over-moisturize the area.
If you experience swelling, apply ice to the treated area for 5 minutes to reduce swelling.
What NOT to doafter a skin camouflage session:
Avoid wearing tight clothing for 2-3 days.
Avoid scratching or peeling to prevent infection or discoloration.
Avoid excessive sweating for 7 days. Moderate exercise is fine after 3 days of treatment.
Avoid exposing the area to the full water pressure of the shower for 7 days.
Avoid tanning and swimming (beach, pool, jacuzzi, bath, etc.) while healing. Stick to a quick rinse in the shower.
Do not apply sunscreen, self-tanning, or any cream that contains Vitamin D while healing.
Avoid perfume and deodorant near or on the treated area.
Do not throw out your aftercare kit. You'll need it for the touch-up session!

Skin Camouflage FAQ
How long does skin camouflage last?
On average scar camouflage can last anywhere between 2 to 5 years.
Does scar camouflage hurt?
It all depends on your scaring. Numbing agents should be applied if your scarring has sensation. The discomfort is often described as no more than about 2 out of 10.
What is inkless camouflage?
Inkless camouflage is a tattooing technique that implants pigment into the skin to conceal scars and other imperfections. It creates a more natural look than traditional camouflage makeup and is semi-permanent, needing touch-ups over time. It should only be performed by a licensed and experienced tattoo artist. Research and due diligence are important before undergoing the procedure.
