Laser resurfacing treatment involves removing layers of old skin and allowing newer, tighter and healthier skin to regenerate. The process works by removing the outer layer of skin while promoting skin growth in the lower layers of skin removing one layer at a time. This ensures healthy and safe skin throughout the laser resurfacing treatment process.
Laser resurfacing is used in many areas of the body including the face, arms, legs and chest. It can treat a wide variety of skin issues including:
You may experience some discomfort during the treatment but you will not experience any extreme pain. Some patients say it feels like a small rubber band contacting their skin.
The new skin will usually cover the treated area within 1-2 weeks and will take about a month to fully heal. It is important throughout this process to apply 30 SPF to your face and avoid things such as pools or abrasive skin products that may irritate your treated area.
Laser resurfacing effects are permanent for removing scars. However, due to the nature of aging, the effects are not permanent in fighting wrinkles and can last anywhere between 3-5 years.
